Your Bathroom Upgrade – Things to Consider

Your Bathroom Upgrade – Things to Consider

Daydreaming about your bathroom upgrade is an essential part of forming an idea of what it is that you crave in a new bathroom.  Some people may have a rock-solid idea of exactly what they want, others may simply covet a particular ‘feel’ that they want their bathroom to have.

Everybody’s home is different, and the way you use your bathroom will be different too. So what key points should you be taking into consideration when planning your bathroom upgrade?

Consider your budget

This is probably one of the most important things to bear in mind.  Design-wise, you do not have to spend a small fortune to get the look you want, however ‘cheap and cheerful’ is rarely the best way forward when it comes to a bathroom upgrade.   Poor design, shoddy workmanship and sub-standard materials will, at best, lead you to planning another bathroom upgrade – much sooner than you might have done.  At worst, you’ll end up with a disaster on your hands. Other companies might be able to make your bathroom look how you want it to look for a little less, but you must take into consideration the quality of the materials and of the work itself.  Bespoke Bathrooms will work with you to design the quality bathroom you want, at a price you can afford.

When working out your budget, it’s always worth factoring in 10-20% extra to cover any unforeseen circumstances that might arise during your bathroom upgrade.  Particularly if you live in an older house you could unwittingly unearth problems with mould, ancient electrics and plumbing that might end up swallowing more of your budget than you’d planned for.  It’s better to prepare for the unexpected, rather than crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

Consider who uses your bathroom

Is your bathroom upgrade for your family bathroom? The master bathroom?  Every bathroom must be practical as well as beautiful, but you should always think about who will be using the new bathroom when you make decisions about the design.  Do you need a pair of side-by-side sinks?  Or plenty of storage for all of the kids’ bits and pieces?

Consider your long-term plans

You might be tempted to go for the most fashionable, super-modern fixtures and fittings for your bathroom, but it’s worth thinking about your long term plans. If you think you might end up selling your home, opting for a more classic design for your bathroom upgrade is a wise idea.  A sink that looks like it would be more at home in the Tate Modern might be right up your street, but a potential buyer in five years time might not feel the same.

At Bespoke Bathrooms we manage your bathroom upgrade right from the design stage, all the way through to completion.  You can come to us with a fully-forged plan or a loose theme, and we will work together to realise your bathroom upgrade dream.  Whether you’re after a sleek, modern design, unfinished industrial beauty or shabby vintage chic – or anything in-between – Bespoke Bathrooms will make the process easy, enjoyable and as stress-free as possible.
