Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, which is the Fairest of them All?

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, which is the Fairest of them All?

Mirrors are often an afterthought when it comes to refurbishing a bathroom, but the size and shape of the mirror you choose can have a big impact on the entire look of the finished product.

Mirrors are an essential addition to any bathroom, as the bathroom is usually the place we undertake self grooming. So how do you choose the right one?

Size Matters

It’s imperative to get the right sized mirror for the space you have as well as your own needs. People normally choose a mirror length that matches their vanity unit length, and this normally ties in with personal needs (for instance, a large family bathroom will normally have a large vanity unit and therefore, a large mirror). You may want to have additional lighting around the mirror edge, for things like make up application and grooming, which would mean having a smaller mirror.

Measure your vanity unit or the area you want to place your mirror first before ordering your mirror.

Quality

You might not think that quality matters when it comes to choosing a mirror, but it really does. Good quality glass doesn’t distort the image, meaning that your reflection will be true to reality. Bare in mind, however, that good quality glass is usually thicker and therefore, heavier, so ensure the wall is strong enough to hold it.

Framed or Frameless?

Frameless mirrors have become really popular, and they’re great for creating the illusion of space and light in smaller bathrooms. Their style, however, might not fit in with all bathrooms, as they are usually contemporary. Framed mirrors are excellent at bringing a bit of opulence into a space.

Mirrored Cabinets

Combine a mirror and storage in one with a contemporary mirrored cabinet. These are a perfect choice for small or compact bathrooms as they provide a grooming area and a place to store toiletries.

Create a Wall of Mirrors

If you’re lucky enough to have a large bathroom space, why not turn one wall into a feature by covering it in mirrors of all shapes and sizes? The mirrors will reflect natural light, making it a room you’ll definitely want to relax in.
