Christmas is a fantastic, fun and festive time of year, but it’s also a time where we tend to put a lot of stress on ourselves, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.
If you’re feeling a bit strung out and in need of some down time, why not pamper yourself with these easy-to-make home detox recipes. They’re all natural and have many healing properties, ranging from detoxing the skin to helping you get a good night’s sleep.
Before We Go On…
Although the ingredients in these bath detoxes are completely natural, please consult your doctor if you have any kind of existing health condition, or allergies; especially (but not limited to): high blood pressure, epilepsy, diabetes and pregnancy.
Energising Citrus Bath
For many of us who have to balance busy working lives with family, it can sometimes feel like we don’t have enough energy to get everything done that we need to. This is usually amplified in the winter months and with all the demands that Christmas throws at us too!
This beautifully fragrant, citrus bath can help invigorate the body and mind and ease symptoms of low mood and depression, improve digestion, nourish the skin, improve cognitive function and more.
To reap the benefits of this citrus booster, you’ll need:
1/2 cup Bentonite clay or activated coconut charcoal
1 cup Epsom salts
6-7 drops orange essential oil
4-5 drops lemon essential oil
Mix the ingredients into your bath until the clay and salts have dissolved.
Soak in the bath and enjoy.
After your bath, rinse under clean water.
Detoxing Apple Cider Vinegar Bath
This detox bath is a little stronger than the first one, so again, consult your physician about any existing health issues before undertaking.
Apple cider vinegar is really good for the skin and has been known to help people who suffer with dry, flaky skin, eczema and psoriasis. It’s also apparently good at breaking down acid in the body and balancing your internal PH, which is a great way to counteract all of the cheese and wine you’ve possibly been consuming!
To enjoy the benefits of this PH balancing detox bath, you’ll need:
1 cup of organic acid cider vinegar
½ cup Epsom salt
Mix in to the bath until the salts have disolved.
Soak and enjoy.
Rinse under clean water.
Sleep Aide Bath
One thing, which a lot of people have in common over Christmas, is a lack of sleep or being unable to fall asleep. Overeating, lots of excitement and disruption to normal routines can make us feel a bit out of sorts when it comes to sleep patterns.
This lovely relaxing, lavender oil bath detox will have you relaxed and snoozing in no time.
You’ll need:
2½ cups Epsom salt
¼ cup bentonite clay
8-10 drops lavender
8 drops frankincense (how very Christmassy!)
8-10 drops myrrh
8 drops bergamot
8-10 drops chamomile
Simply mix all the ingredients together in a bowl with a wooden spoon and add to your bath.
Soak for a minimum of ten minutes; a maximum of thirty to reap the full benefits.
We hope that our detox recipes will help you have a relaxed but fun-filled festive period.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all the staff here at Bespoke Bathrooms!
